PIPEWORKS FESTIVAL 2011
MASTERCLASSES
As part of the festival programme, each member of the jury of the Dublin International Organ Competition will present a masterclass in their chosen field of specialisation. These classes offer Irish organ students a unique opportunity to learn with some of the world's finest teachers, and avail of valuable insights into many areas of organ repertoire and performance practice. Each class will take place on an instrument suited to the particular repertoire and with space for both participants and observers.
Pipeworks is offering four scholarships to promising young Irish players, giving them free entry as participants into each masterclass. These scholarships will be awarded upon recommendation from teachers/colleagues and the provision of suitable repertoire proposals.
Intending students should submit a proposal including:
- for Cauchefer-Choplin masterclass, a description of improvisation experience.
- for all other masterclasses, a work or works totalling not more than 10-15 minutes and in keeping with the theme of each masterclass.
Submissions should also include the name and contact details of a teacher/referee. Priority will be given to students who can attend all classes. Submissions should be made by email to Mark Duley.
There will be a limited number of places for observers at all masterclasses. Intending observers should book a place by emailing the administrator.
Participants: Places for participants are awarded as scholarships, those interested should contact Mark Duley.
Observers: €10 per class
